Marva Washington Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Writing
A retired U.S. Army officer, Marva Washington has established a new career, pursuing her long-time passion for writing
SUN VALLEY, CA, January 6, 2012 /AE PR News/ -- Author Marva Washington has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in writing. Her first novel, "Bid Whist at Midnight", published in February 2011, evokes the turbulent 1960s in an imaginative tale based upon a historical event as three women reunite twenty years after attending college to revisit the tragic event that defined their lives.
Even though this is her first major work, Ms. Washington began writing as a student, and was the winner of a short-story contest at Los Angeles Southwest College. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from South Carolina State College, the school which plays a prominent role in her novel. In 1982, she earned a Master of Arts Degree in Journalism/Mass Communications from California State University, Northridge.
Having amassed 20 years of experience in the U.S. Army and in government service, Ms. Washington ventured out on her own to pursue her first love for the written word. She not only writes books, but blogs, as well as markets and advertises her business. In addition, Ms. Washington plays the violin for two orchestras within her community. She is working on several novel concepts which she hopes to publish in the near future.
